When Michelle asked me to capture her birth story in photographs, I was so excited! One of the biggest compliments and honors is when a mama asks you to capture the story of the birth of their baby. This is absolutely a private time, but it is also an incredibly special set of moments that become a bit of a blur at the end of the day. In Michelle’s case, she wanted her mom and husband in the room with her, but she really wanted them to be able to focus on her and baby and not on getting photographs.
Also, this was no typical birth story. First, Michelle and Collin were pregnant newlyweds who decided from the start that they wanted the sex of their baby to be a surprise…for them and everyone else. Sometimes family and friends are confident on whether the baby is a boy or a girl. However, in this case, they were totally split!
To add another layer of special to this baby, it was the first grandchild on both sides of the family. Collin, as an only child, was about to share the first grandchild with his Mom and Dad. Michelle, as the oldest of two, was also the first to grow a little baby. Every grandparent was crazy excited to find out if they would have a grandson or granddaughter!
This baby took all night to come, and they were all here the whole time in the waiting room! You cannot even fathom the love that was waiting for this little baby!
