Today in this “What to Wear for Family Photos” post, I am sharing a fun technique that I have tried with my own family (you will spy a photo of us below!). It is the “pick a pattern” technique!
Sometimes it is hard to figure out what colors go well together and what everyone in a large family should wear for family photos. With this technique, you find one patterned outfit that you love for one member of the family–ideally mom, since I ALWAYS recommend you start with mom, but it doesn’t have to be.
Choose a floral, plaid, or other fun pattern in a dress or shirt and coordinate everyone else’s outfits around that item. The best part of this technique is that it automatically guides your color scheme and makes selections for the rest of the family much easier. It also makes sure that you are coordinated without being matchy-matchy. Finally, it allows you to pair colors you might not think to pair because the patterned outfit pulls the group together.
Check out some options for what to wear by picking a pattern below!
